Free OBD2 Tuners?

Are there any freely downloadable OBD2 programs for the computer that we could use to remap the ECU using a tactrix cable? a tactrix cable is like $80, whereas poeple are trying to charge a few hundred for handheld tuners...thanks

something sounds fishy about that. Someone may have hacked together a program but I would be pretty nervous about using some free program to mess with the brain on my $30,000 car.

there is a good reason why these products are so costly.

Basically, the programmer uses the maps from a tuner, and reworks them to peoples specifications, and they can then load them up on their car....its not for the noobs, there are risks but there are rewards, like saving a few hundred
