The tuners work for one truck only. They are locked to the vin number and if you buy a used one you have to send it in so they can program your vin into it.

Do you really think they'd sell them if they didn't work? You'd see more negative reviews on them if they didn't work.

It would work with the 3.0 and then the 4.0, but before you pulled the 3.0 you have to unlock the xcal by setting the tune back to stock, and then there MIGHT be another step in the process, but you have to set it back to stock to unlock the xcal, then do the swap, then pair the xcal to the pcm again... and tune

I have seen more positive reviews on the Xcal than negative ones..

do you need to run 89 or 93 octane after getting them ?

you can run anything from an 87 to a 94 tune for torque or performance or Mileage. ( 94 here in Canada I'm not sure about the U.S)

Contact Bamachips ( Doug) or Rouge performance ( Fred) they can set you in the right direction according to what you need.

It's a great little mod to wake up your truck IMO.

Another great tuner is Don at Lasota racing. He's created classes that the other tuners take to learn the trade. Why not go to the master?

btw, an x-cal of any rev level is just simply the "box" that carries the tune. What you'r really after is the brains & experience behind the tune. And even that only gets you into the ball park. Tuning yourself gets you exactly what you want.
