5.0L Headers

5.0L Headers
Does anybody know a header that will work on a 5.0L swap into a 98+ truck?
The only ones i have seen are the torq. monsters... which look sweet but 700bucks is a little steep.
Anybody know what hits when using a basic mustang shorty? Frame, steering shaft, heater box?
I plan on redo-ing the rest of the system so i dont really care if it hooks up to the stock (ranger / exploder) cat pipe.

The spark plug angle is an issue with most headers if you use the GT40P heads from the 97 1/4 thru 2001 Explorer 5.0. Torque Monsters will clear the unique angle of the GT40P plugs/boots. TM's also work with other production Ford 5.0 heads and most accessory heads meant for 5.0 apps.
Torque Monsters really are the best solution and you can get a discount of around $100 if you join Explorer Forum. That still makes them fairly expensive but they are very well made, ceramic coated and they fit the 98+ engine compartment perfectly.

I was planning on using the explorer mounts tho, and obviously still have some frame up there (alltho not stock).
Maybe i will wait till i get the motor in and then decide...
I am still having a hard time chewing 600 bucks for a set ...

yeah in your situation I would would say the spark plugs would be the only thing. Besides that issue I'm sure you could buy some standard 5.0 headers and cut and re-weld for some special angles to get around a few things etc. But like Bob said they are spendy for a reason, but mainly for stock guys like us. I'm probably going to fork out the dollars for some TM's myself, just for ease of install and they perform very well for our special fit.
compare them to a custom header made by a shop, and they are about half as expensive, trust me. I got some crazy quotes

Mustang headers for gt40p heads.
No pic, not sure if they will work for you.

I have seen ceramics as cheap as 150ish for a mustang and from reading the mustang boards it sounds like most headers will fit the spark plug angle... you just need to run a 90 degree boot.
Maybe i will try and find a super cheap set of shorties off craigs list or ebay for mock up...
Dont get me wrong, those TM headers are sweet and i dont doubt they are worth every penny for a guy that just wants to bolt something on, but i am stubborn and a glutton for punishment.
I will try and take some measurments this weekend and let you guys know what i find.
