It uses a relay that is powered by the PCM. If you undid that you will need to run a power to the relay for it.

What kinda regulator do you have???

Huh, well. The PCM is what controlled your old engine. How did you get all the work done? Did you do it?

Keep in mind that your intank EFI pump runs at high pressure and is regulated to supply 65 PSI coming out of the tank. By contrast, a carbureted engine only needs about 3 PSI to fill the float bowl. Any fittings and lines that are carrying 65 PSI must be rated for high pressure EFI apps. Hose clamps and regular fuel line are not strong enough.

I would not recommend using the stock pump in the first place. I would have replaced it with a low PSI inline pump. But all you need to do is either find the factory wiring and make sure it is hooked up. Otherwise wire in a new relay into the system. You need a constant power and ground, and an ignition on power. Then send it to the pump. Do it that way even if you go inline.

Are you sure the regulator is gonna drop you all the way down to 3-5 psi???

Couldn't he just run a fuel cell, and let the cam pump pump it up? cam driven pump or electric pump?

Or is there a way to run the stock tank and bypass the stock pump in order to get the correct psi going to the float bowl?

see thats what i thought.. so i did a lil lookin... an came up with somethings i can try.. first i took out all the spark plugs, second i took off the transmission cause i thought that myabe the torque conv. wasnt in properly, lastly i lowered the oil pan to see if i can see anything an nothing.... so i then tried to turn it again an it still locked up on me... thats why im a lil worried and hope its nothing major.

You might want to make sure nothing is hitting. Like your connecting rods and your camshaft if you installed a stroker kit and a big cam. Also do you have the bearings installed correctly with the correct clearances. If everything is correct you should be able to turn it over by hand.

yea im hopin its jus hittin sumtin an i can fix it..thats why ima take it out an take a real good look at it so i dont reaaly mess sumitn up.. it still has the stock cam in there... bearings? sry im kinda new to some things..lol.. the motor came out of a 1996 f-150...atleast i think its a 96...

a lil off topic here but.. the oil pan that it came with is a rear sump oil (i think) an im lookin to get the dual sump but i notice on the pictures i see of them, theres a hole on right side of it.. so im assuming thats for the dip stick. but on my engine the dipstick goes through the side of the engine.

am i lookin at it wrong? am i getting the right one? im lost.

You said it's a carbed 302? I highly doubt it came out of a 96. 86, yeah, but not 96. The 302's got Fuel Injection in 87 I believe. Unless the guy/gal with the truck swapped in the carbed 302 into the 96.

The double hump pans have a threaded hole in the side for an oil level sensor. That may be what you see.

Did you do anything to the engine? Or was it running before you installed it?

ooo... ok that makes since...

i origonally got the engine from the junkyard (jus the block and heads no brackets or nothing)...not sure if it was going to run or not so i took my chances...i then brought it home, an to make sure that the engine was atleast operable i manually turned it and it was jus fine...

so then i had to buy lil htings like the brackets for the compressor an alternator etc., intake manifold, carb., distributor,an fab'd motor mounts (which i have to change cause i dont think there gonna work). finally put it in an hooked everything up, so i went to go do the timing an tried to find TDC, i went to go manually turn it and it would start to turn then jus stop an wont turn no more an doin it pretty hard too.
