5.0 guys
#7
my mpg went up. Mainly because my truck runs a bit more efficiently with the 5.0 in it. my 3.0 sucked gas trying to keep me up to speed. Chris will have to help confirm on that as he is in the same boat I was in. I'm not sure of my exact mileage anymore since I havnt got around to wiring my odo and speedo correct yet. and I have a bad cat and a couple bad O2 sensors so its sucking a little more gas and not running perfect anymore. I need to remake the exhaust with 2 performance cats and new o2s and hopefully headers and then it should run better.

since its a basically stang engine and you can buy Catless xpipes and run them with MIL eliminators all day long its not gonnna do damage to antyhing. sound wise lil louder just get a good muffler and youll be set. When i do mine Im gonna change back to single side exit or like an f350 RBP "dump style"

I have no cats and my truck isn't that loud... and for some reason I done get cat codes
Oh well, im not complaining!
I have been pulling out 16.5 MPG back roads, with 4.56 gears, 35's and Dana 30 solid front axle that spins when the tires turn (no hubs to unlock).
My 05 had a 3.0, 5 speed, 4.10 gear and 32's and was 2wd and regular cab. I usually only got 17 MPG out of it on back roads, and that was with the JBA headers...
I have way more torque, more HP, sounds better, Im bigger, have 4wd, etc... now, so I think a half a mile per gallon decrease is no big deal at all. If this truck was exactly the same, but had a 3.0, mileage would SUCK, and power would be nonexistent.
