...as many expensive parts as possible?

Theres no kits for v8 swaps, and I believe any v8 swap in your year is a whole lot more work than in later years.

Id suggest a 4.0 swap

Reuse* as many expensive parts haha dont want to spend more money then needed. Does a 4.0 swap use the same parts? Because they put that in rangers so i imaging they cant be too different

regardless you need a donor truck.

id go carb 302 and do your own harness. watch for e-test issues too.

Honestly i'd just look for a good deal on a newer 4.0 truck. has way more power than your 3.0 anyway.
the cost for a swap on your truck would outweigh any benefits.

Your best bet would be just to buy another ranger with a 4.0 in it. If your ranger is in good shape it will still fetch a good amount when you sell it. Use that money and get yourself a nice clean ranger.

You would be looking at spending a ton of time and money to make something what you could have gotten for around the same price with alot less of the hard work haha.

F.X.4 is right... sell it and buy another one. I did. Happy I did it that way too. I had 3.0 Ranger, sold it and got my current one. 4.0 Ranger :)
