That's one of the most easiest swaps you can do on this planet. You practically have no clearance issues, with a carbed 302 the swap should take you practically not time at all and should be very cheap too. Alot of people seek out your model year of your truck for that purpose alone. you shouldn't have any problems at all. I wish mine was going to be that easy.

I dropped a 1990 5.0 HO and took off the FI and put a air gap 4 barrel and 600cfm Edelbrock with a T-5 out of a GT. Pretty easy job. The hardest part of the hole job was the clutch cable. Same stock V6 motor mounts.

I would love to see how you did the clutch cable with the T-5

can you use the stor motor mounts off a v6? I'm going to be getting a new truck in a year or so, I may keep the 88 around and just swap in a carbed v8 for the simplicity. I want the truck to be some what reliable

I used the stock V6 mounts in my swap. You just have to make 2 flat plats to bolt to the motor. On the drivers side I had to double up the plat so it would sit leval. I used 1/4 inch steel and 1/2 inch on the drivers side. Never even moved the mounts.

As far as the clutch cable. I took a pedal out of a mustang and put it in my truck. It was a 5 speed to begin with. Its not a good set up but works for now. I usuly snap a cable about every other year. I need to put in a hydrolic setup, but havent figured that out yet.

When you ran the cable, didn't you run into issues with the headers? I always have problems with melting my cables more than anything else.

No not at all. But the angle of the cable inside the firewall is pretty steep and there for I keep braking cables about every other year. I have been looking into changing it over to hydrolic but havent quite figured that out yet. And havent realy had the time to work on it.

I've seen the after market hydraulic set ups but they cost a fortune. I'm told newer mustang V6's have a compatible hydraulic set up but I haven't looked into it 2 much.

Heres a short vid. of my 84 with a 347 in it. I went with Holley Pro-Jection. If you run any type of FI you will have to run a high pressure fuel pump and new lines to feed it(I used the stock lines as my return).

Should be 05' and +, 79-04' used cable and quadrant.

I think there is more to it, some models used a slightly different setup or there was a variation between a couple models I thought, but I could be wrong.

The 05 use an internal slave that looks to have 2 bolts that bolt in in place inside, do they fit? they are very pricey also like around $160 to $190. I would think there is a far better way to make the clutch hydrolic, isnt there?

If its less than 200 dollars, thats cheap imo. The after market kits were around 800, atleast the ones I had seen before. As for the internal slave, I wonder if it can be fit on a 302 bellhousing, then pedals could be set up the same as a stock manual ranger.
