My Exhaust(5.0L)
Ive been told by numerous people that my exhaust is alot quieter than they thought it would be. And i think the same way. My whole idea of this 5.0 swap that I did was that Id have that awesome 5.0 rumble like a mustang or something similar...
Right now im running Torque Monster headers, all 4 cats, into a y-pipe, 40 series SI/DO Flowmaster muffler...
What are my options here to get my 5.0 sounding more like the mustang? or is that even possible in the ranger??
x-pipe?
DI/DO 40 series flowmaster muffler?
Im just lookin for opinions here. Pictures of what my exhaust looks like as of now!
Thanks

You are seriously robbing yourself on the exhaust. the classic fox sounds comes form a offroad H pipe and 2 chamber flows. However The best sound for a 5.0 is a bassani offroad X pipe with 2 chambers. Cant believe you actually put 4 cats on it Thats not a camaro get rid of that dang Y pipe!

run true duals, side by side along the passenger side, get a small weld in h or x pipe and install it before the muffler, then have two 40 series standing on end welded together next to eachother. hard to describe but i ran this set up for a long time on my f150 before i switched to super 40's

I have all the cats but the last one, and si/do flowmaster. It wasn't too loud,I removed the pipes from muffler back and got a lot of sound back. Just like u see some musle cars running just the mufflers under the car. When I get headers I'm going with 2 magnaflow hiflow cats and an x pipe to dumps. when I run a fuel cell then ill get space back to run pipe on the driverside

Im running 4 cats for emissions purposes...
Im not running it dumped after the headers, I dont want to drive a drag car here.
All I want is that nice rumble you hear on some mustangs..
looks like there will be plenty of room for 2 SI/SO mufflers under the truck and a Xpipe.
Hmmmm, Maybe ill look in to this then after christmas.

I have the same magnaflow too and love it, you can usually get a used one on ebay or cragislist. I wanted a valid warranty so I got it here. Magnaflow 45036. Also some of the forum sponsors selling magnaflow usually have a sale going on. Either way its a great cat, sounds great, and very easy to install.

I ran duals on an '88 Ranger 5.0L along the passenger side of the truck, no cats through DynoMax Mufflers, both exited on the passenger side and they sounded like a Stang; at least I was told they did.
I think the problem is the duals, the "X" Pipe is a good idea though, it help with other things.
