would this work?
hello all. have a question for everyone.... lets say i have a 2000 (or any 98+) 2WD non-edge ford ranger which we will call ranger A. i buy from my local salvage yard a 2000 (or any 98+) 2WD non-edge ranger bare frame which we will call ranger B. would it be possible to "box in" my frame on ranger B then install my motor/tranny (im thinking of going with a 4.6 s/c from a cobra OR a 5.4 s/c from a lightning) then move over my cab, bed, front clip and all my suspension and rear end from ranger A (basically build the truck around the motor/tranny)? Or would it be easier to just to box my frame on ranger A then install my motor/tranny? i am trying to do it the easiest way possible and the least amount of down time.....THANKS and i hope to hear something encouraging.....

What exactly are you boxing? The 98+ Ranger frames are already boxed at the front half.
As for your plan, not a good idea. You would likely get it all done, only to find the cab would not fit on around the engine. It is best to have the cab in place, and set the engine to the frame. If you were doing an Explore 302 swap, sure, but with a 4.6 or 5.4, not recommended for you plan.

Seen it a few times in Dearborn. A nice truck for sure!
