Using the 5.0L stock Ex isolators and engine plates will definitely bolt an Explorer 5.0L into a 98+ 4x4 Ranger frame. Not sure but I think it will bolt in any 302.

Stocks will work for any 302. I have not used the L&L mounts.

Why pay $175 for for parts that may need to be adapted when you can bolt in the stock Explorer plates? Besides, the stock plates would probably come attached to a donor 5.0 Ex engine anyway. If not, you could pick them up on eBay for a few bucks.

Keep in mind that anything you find in the aftermarket for a V8 Ranger swap was probably designed for 97 or earlier. The easiest 5.0 swap for 98+ is done using stock 99+ 5.0 Explorer parts.

These are the factory Explorer 5.0L engine plates and mounts. When used along with the stock Ex trans mount, the entire powertrain unit will bolt directly into a 99 4x4 Ranger.

yeah im sure if you pick up a motor from somewhere it will come with the mounts. Mine did so i didnt have to worry about them. Also the trans mount came with it too. And like Bob was saying its a much easier drop in swap using the expo parts.

just make sure you know yer PATS is working before you intall it and wonder wtf is wrong and why it wont start. i went through all my wiring for hours and trying to start it for almost a month before we realized that my pats module was dead. oh well such as life

Most likely. If not, they come up on eBay regularly:

here is some stuff James Duff has for the V8 swap in a Ranger......

- V8 transmission to Ranger transfer case tail housings (automatics and manuals), radiators, oil pans, motor mounts:
http://www.jamesduff.com/broncoII/v8conversion.html

- Long tube headers:
http://www.jamesduff.com/broncoII/engine.html

I agree with Bob, the Explorer V8 motor mounts will bolt up to any '98+ Ranger crossmember....

One of my stock 4.0 motor mounts looked the same but the other was different in the bolt layout. If nothing else, the 3.0L, 4.0L and 5.0 mounts will probably have different Durometer ratings. I used factory 5.0L Ex mounts in mine - they bolt right up between the Ranger frame and the Explorer engine plates.

In 1998+ trucks with V8 swap, you have three choices:

1) FRPP "headers" - not much improvement over stock
2) Torque Monster headers. A bit spendy, but the biggest gain aside from option #3
3) Custom headers - most costly $1000 and up.

That is the full list.

In my post above, I gave you a link to an auction that was active at the time. It's over now but if you watch eBay, a set will come up again.

actually i was looknig at ebay when i found these and was going to check with you to make sure that the year was not an issue, but you beat me to it, i thank you very much for that. i also want to ask you sould i keep my c-4 trans and buy a new transfer case and a adavance adapter(which went up about 80 bucks this past month) or i have a friend of mine who will be able to convert a c-6 with a transfer case all for under a grand? just was looking for what transmission would be better in the long run( i do run on the highway and off road) but thanks again for the advice on the headers, i found a local guy around here that had a set of the frpp. i just wanted to say thanks again bob and sorry for all the question!!!
