motor swap from mustang
Im planning on doing a 5.0 swap soon to a ranger. i dont have the ranger yet but it will be a mid 90's model. i have a 88 stang with a 5.0 and manual trans and i was wondering if its worth pulling the motor and trans from the stang or just sell the stang and get more money and just buy a explorer 5.0 engine. any input or info would awesome.thanks

Engines will both be small block fords. If your grab an exploders engine and tranny, you will have an Auto ( they didn't make a stick/v8 ).
If the stang is trashed, snag what you want from it and save some cash. If you sell the stang, you'll have some cash but starting from scratch.
It works either way, I went and built an engine, came from a friends 92GT. Still in the mix of my project. Its a fresh engine whereas if I bough one, I wouldn't know its history/beatings its taken.

If you have a functioning engine and tranny, use them. You can always pick up the ' odd explorer parts ' from boneyards or dealerships ( ebay.. ).
