Its really funny how interchangeable explorer parts are on rangers. Everything snaps into place with no modifications, its NICE... It's like the ranger was supposed to have this motor in it :-P

Damn dood, that's terrible. So bye bye 3.slow huh? At least you had this upgrade in mind! The weather is perfect out in Cali for this swap, but if you have a nice shaded area in Phx it won't be so bad.

1999 explorer motor in a 2000 ranger.

Id go with a 99-01 explorer/mountaineer motor for the post 2000 rangers. :) Bob has done his and he has a build thread on it. He has posted in this thread and has a link in his signature. Check it out Sandy :)

Sorry dude but this is so untrue. The GT40 "P" do not work with most headers. There is a just a few diffrent companys that make a special header just for the "P" heads and they are pricey. I build alot of engines for Mustangs and I use the Explorer heads and intakes and have not found any headers that work on these heads but the one made for "P" heads. The spark plugs lays right on the header tubes in a couple of spots. Here is a pic of an engine I just did last week for a customer.

We could argue this all day long... I think was i was trying to say is that running a p head isnt as big of a deal as people make it out to be.

The mustang guys argue this all the time and if you believe the internet, there are tons of headers that people are using with P heads. You just need to do the research before you buy them.

I am building a motor right now... Its got P heads and a non-P header on it from BBK. Just used 90deg boots and voila.... done.

You can also get a spark plug with a shorter snout on it which will help fitment.

Ps... none of this matters becuase none of the mustang headers will work on a ranger frame.

ok hi-jack over....

Mudslayer- hurry up and get that engine pulled so you can send me my parts!! haha

yea but those headers WILL NOT fit in the ranger or explorer... There are only 3 types that will fit in our trucks...

Ford Racing(discontinued)
Torquemonster(expensive)
OEM(restrictive)
