350 in ranger

I was talking to my buddy today and he said he had a 350 that he would sell me. How hard would this be to put in a 2000 Ranger 4x4 or should i just find a 302 somewhere?

302 out of a Expo would be much easier considering it bolts right in and the wiring is very similar.

It's been discussed a couple times. More or less you would have to come up with custom mounts for sure.

I'm not even sure it if would be possible to use all your stock gauges and stuff (probably is possible but would take a lot of research).

Unless your going complete trail truck, I wouldn't do it. The 302 swap from an Exploder has been done many times and between here and RPS, there is easily enough info to get it done much easier.

id personally go with the 350. its not that hard. custom mounts? S10 v8 swap mounts work just fine. the power to price ratio is much better for a 350 plus theres no replacement for displacement. but wat do i kno im biased.

You have to stay with in the same motor family in NC for it to pass inspection. Ford motor has to go in Ford, etc.

ok first of all how big is your STOCK motor. yea exactly. if someone wants to actually break out of the cookie cutter trend of mods around now who are you to pass judgement on anyone for that. Think of it this way. Atleast its an AMERICAN motor. i could understand having stupid comments if someone wanted to swap in a toyota 4.7L or something. And by the way i didnt know the part about NC law. i understand now.

I say "GO FOR IT"!

But I'm kinda open minded myself...........like the Ranger better than the S10, and everybody & their brother has a V8 S10...........BUT, I can build 2, almost 3 SBC's for the price of 1 SBF, and get more bang for my buck!

Got proof too.........done it twice on 3rd generation Rangers!

Post up some pics on your build either way PLEASE!

It has to be from the same year as or newer and retain all of the emissions equipment as well. Its all in that link that Ryan posted.
