Gauges with Tachometer installation

To install gauges with a tachometer, I had to do a re-pin job.

Since I was going from a 4-cylinder to a V8, I had to pull the BK/YE wire from the smallest connector and put it into the largest connector's position #16 (vacant pin position at the end of the connector).

Since the 4-cylinder didn't require this ground wire originally, I had to ensure it was grounded by splicing in a stretch of wire and grounding it properly.

Special thanks to Bob W. for his assistance and instruction.

That's exactly what I did. I had to change the gauges, wire the A-pillar gauges in, re-wire for the tach, and install PATS....so I took the dash apart and did it all in one afternoon.

needforspeed, I'm wanting to get an indiglo cluster setup with the rpms gauge, and install it on my '95 ranger manual 4 cyl. It currently has only the three gauge stock setup. is it possible to install the setup you have there with the rpm gauge on my truck? thanks.

Yes most indiglo faces are sold as "with tach" or "w/o tach". This cluster came from the Explorer I gutted. I have yet to get indiglo or aftermarket faces for this yet, but I know they're out there.

I had to specify in my order "no tach" when I got my first set:

Guys Im running into this problem but in reverse. I have a 4 cyclinder 95 Ranger, old dash cluster had no tach, and I'm adding a 01 cluster WITH tach. I'm assuming that this cluster came out of a bigger engine Sport Trac as the tach is acting very weak and the mechanic told me I needed a grounding cable. Any way to tell which cable I need to fix? Someone got wiring diagrams?
