Engine swap is being set in motion...

I got a call today from work and they told me to call the local UPS automotive shop. I called them and they said that they will be swinging a 4bt out of a package car because of miles. Nothing wrong with it, just that it is due for an engine based on miles. I had expressed interest in getting one of the engines as a project for down the road to put in my Ranger. Welp, they said pay the core charge and it was all mine!!!

Cummins Ranger is well on its way. But I am going to rebuild it and modify it first. Not to mention I want to get the suspension done first.

Yeah. And for 1600 bucks, I can't beat the price either! It only has 150K miles on it too. Which really isn't anything for them.

The engine is sitting at work right now :) Gonna need some work. I have ordered an overhaul kit for it through work to have it there when I need it. It is really causing a stir at work as well. People know what I have planned for it too :)

Ugh, pulled the crank out of this thing and the crank is shot, a bore is shot, and the cam is shot. This build just got spendy! The crank is going to be more than I paid for the whole engine rofl

It shouldn't cost that much to have yours turned. Here, the main problem would be turnaround time from the machinist. Probably about three months.

Yeah, not to mention the 370 marine injectors that I have sitting in the toolbox for it already.

I am going to continue working on this as time and money allows. Hopefully I will be able to get ahold of Sheid's Diesel and get a cam made up for it as well as oversize fuel lines and some pump work done.

Sounds like a good project. You should do a NV3550 or something similar. As for the engine, list some details. Not overly familiar with this. What is the max torque, etc.. Electronically controlled or mechanical? Turbo charged I assume? Sounds like fun.

I had looked into putting an International Powerstroke 3.0L 4cyl (from SA Ranger) in my Ranger prior to the 351W, but it just got way too expensive way too fast for what I was getting.

Good luck, and yes - pictures please.
