97 2.3L to a rebuilt 4.3 V8 From older Falcon
So I ran into this motor rebuilt top to bottom with auto transmission and a clutch for a manual transmission ( cant remember if he said a manual transmission with everything else,) for 500 bucks for it all. Comes also with a bunch of the V8 accessories. Its Holly carb, and has brand new upgraded camshafts to be put in it? Don't quote me on the last part. He is a trusted man and wouldnt sell me something that isnt what it is. So I had a few questions. Would this motor bolt in just as easy as the 302 would? On a scale of 1-10 how hard would this be? I am a fairly new mechanic in term of years. But I am very mechanically inclined. Just findished my first top to bottom rebuild on my old runner it was a 3.slow V6 with An auto transmission that I rebuilt as well. I self taught myself. So I was just more looking for some direction with this swap. Would it be worth it? good deal? Mine is a manual 5 speed atm, and I would love to keep it a manual. And wanna keep it 2WD. What all am I going to need and keep from my original truck and what Am I goin to need from the V8. Xould I do an independent suspension all the way around? Plausible? And if you are going to write read the forums. Trust me. I have tried. There is millions of swaps with the 5.0 or 302. But not with this specific motor I am speaking of. Any HELP would be much appreciated. Thnks

260 motor should bolt in. It is approximately the same size as a 5.0L.
Trans not sure about. Mounting, shifter, driveshaft ?
Wiring needs to be addressed, where to get power, starter motor hook up, etc.
These engines had valves that needed lead in the gas for lubrication, we use no-lead now so what to do here other than add lead.
If you can get these things figured out might be ok.
I know about trusted friends but think hard on this, a 5.0 L is the same basic think except larger in cubic inches.
IMHO... if you want a small V-8 stick to a 5.0l, the same but different, more parts available, more power equipment available, will run today's gas without parts changes, has computer operated EFI, has more stock torque, which is better for a truck.
Luck on your choices.

So where is this going ?
Did you get the engine or are you thinking something else ?
5.0L out of an explorer will do the trick... Or maybe a 5.0L with aftermarket harness. Depending on your inspection needs.
Luck
