A 4.0 and I say go for it. That 3.slow made me do some crazy things that I never would have done before.
I got a 4.0 SOHC now and now I don't know how I put up with that weak 3.0 as long as I did.

He said he wanted to do a 5.0 swap... not a 4.0.

’93 Stang 5.0L with engine/computer harness.
An Explorer setup is nice too, but the heads on the EX’s are “P-Heads” and I do not really know too much about them except that a header manufacturer made special headers for them… me stick to the Stang.
Get an Adapter Kit w/Headers and bolt it in.
I like the L&L, $$$ isn’t cheap but one of the best manufactured kits I have seen. The machining on the individual parts is fantastic, they could be used in a show setup. The headers are the heaviest duty headers, Flanges ½" and pipes wall thickness has to be 3/32” min, all of their stuff is HD but again big money.

The early Rangers are so much easier to put the 5.0L in, wham bam thank you.

A lot of people will say that the 5.0 Swap is old and there are other swaps that would be better, 2.3LT, 4.6L, 4BT, small v-8 diesels, but the truth is there isn’t much room in there and in the long run, power gained vs $$$ the 5.0L is the most practical and $$$ Value you will find.

The auto ends up being the easiest because a couple of cooling lines a Floor Mounted Cable Shifter and away you go, a 5 spd setup would be great not sure what to do to get one in but ZI like the manual shift, sort of a control thing.

Good Luck in the choice.

not all explorers have p heads, the earlier years are normal gt40's...both are better than the heads offered on noncobra mustangs

Well, if you have a 5 speed truck to start with, then you already have the clutch pedal and I'm pretty sure they're hydraulic. So you are on the way there.

I say go for a Mustang for sure, Mine's a non cobra out of a 1991 GT, auto tranny.

The heads on mine were on there when the motor came out of the car and they are gt40s.

Go for it, you won't regret it until you are at the gas pump.

ok well after my little vacation :) ive done ALOT MORE thinking... im thinking about going carbed FOR THE TIME BEING.... putting a restrictor on my pump to lower the pressure of fuel and finding a 88-93 stang or finding a v8 tbird or stang that HASNT had a 351 swap.... OR just finding an 96-2000 exploder...wrecked and then parting out the rest to u guys to get SOME money back... i was thinkin taking the trans, motor, and rearend and should i be able to use the driveshaft to? being im wanting to take the WHOLE drivetrain?? i know the rearend will be 1 1/2 wider... big whoopy haha is my thinking correct? or am i wrong with the WHOLE drivetrain? and then just putting in a floor shifter for the trans... this will be going into a SUPERCAB 92 ranger... and another thing... would i still be about to use the STOCK gauges in the truck?

.
Those heads didnt come stock on your 91 GT engine. Only the Cobra's and the Explorer's had them from the factory in production vehicals.

Should we comment about the bad blood or about a thread that hasn't made any progress in 5 months?
