Resulting truck / engine combo will be too heavy in the front and too light in the back.
In other words, too loose, not a good plan, typical of these types of programs, listen carefully at the begining and they go over the bad points but do it anyway.
Don't follow these programs, they are worse than the magazines for correct info and training, and they have more commercials.

I have a 2001 Ford Ranger 4.0L 5 speed manual, it's pretty sporty, breaks loose going around corners in second gear. So I'm imagining what would happen if there was more HP, more weight in the front and the same weight in the back.

I don't remember ever dreaming about an engine but this is my "dream" engine.
Ford Racing Performance Parts - [Part Details]
I wouldn't put it in a Ranger tho. I'd put it in a 25th T-Bird Anniversary Edition.

Most doing a V8 swap don't just swap in an engine/trans and call it good. With the added power and weight (if there is added weight) other things on the truck should be changed also. Bigger brakes, stronger axles, traction devices, redistibuted weight, etc are all things that need to be looked at.
