Alright guys, I have a 3.SLOW...
I want to do an engine swap to some sort of bigger engine.
I know I might be sounding like a total idiot.
But this isn't my department. Ha ha
I don't know **** about motors...
Someone told me to put a V-8 in it.
Other people are telling to build a 292 or a 302.
TO be totally honest. I don't know what those are.

The goal for this truck is to be able to take it out and jump it in the sand.
I'm gonna tube the bed and use fiberglass bedsides, so that I can remove them and put paddles on the rear and not have to worry about clearance issues.
And I will also be doing a 4 link.

But none of that is gonna do me **** if I don't the pony's to be kicking me across the dunes.

So, what should I put in there?

 

Since you know nothing about engines I would find a 4.0 with all the computer stuff to go with it and and install that. At least that way it would all fit.

 

Like Rudy said. two ways. the 3.0L is a dog even finding a junk yard decent newer 4.0 SOHC motor swaped into your truck you will be extreamly suprised. or the other thing to do is find a wrecked 302 Explorer 4 door buy it and swap everything into your ranger

 

Ranger1 is selling a 4.0 with all the accesories ecu ect.

 

im swapping an entire 5.0L 4x4 drivetrain in the ranger (minus the t-case)..
