2004 CD6 in a 2000???

I just bought a stock 6 CD changer out of a 2004 Ranger to replace the stock CD player in my 2000. Is there anything I will need to do to install it, or will It just plug in where my old one did? Thanks!

-Matt

Hey matt, as far as I know its a direct plug in. You shouldn't need anything since it isn't an aftermarket unit(yes this is the guy you bought it from)

From like, 1998+, all the radio's are interchangable. I got screwed on my '95, even though it all lOOKS the same, the connector in the back is different.

OH - well I thought you were talking about FORD OEM 6 disk changers
and Adamitch, you are only partly correct
if you take the FORD 6 CD chager out of LIL BLUE it will not work on any other truck that is not set up for 7 speaker stereo
same for a Tremor unit
both have OEM seperate amps

Thanks for all the help guys. I know I need like a "key" to remove the old CD player, and I know I can make one from a coat hanger, but do they sell them at like Autozone? Or do I have to do to my.... dealer

I knew that, but you already covered that. So, I merely added that ALL radios besides the special one's will work.

'Eh, you might have gotten me -- but you got my brake-light!

you don't need a key.

Look underneath the radio/above the hvac, there are two bolts. Unbolt them, take off your whole center bezel, and you can pop the radio out with ease.

you got me a brake light - which works fine, now has LED cargo lamps and never leaked
remember our surprise when there were no wires to hook it up - the first of many electrical system changes for 2004
Dave sold me an autodown module - thank you Bob for guiding me on the installation this past October in Centralia
- hmmm.... purchased in/near Centralia FEB 2004 installed in/near Centralia OCT 2005, not a very good record
poor LIL BLUE - so neglected in the summer and now too cold to work on her easily
Oh well your Level II Sonic Blue legend lives on and I too wonder what happened to Adrian

Yeah, I'll have to email him or something. I have his phone number, but it's in the USA.
