radio from 2006 ranger into a 2002

I recently bought a factory radio out of a 2006 ranger that i wanted to put in my 2002 ranger. The stereo might as well have come directly from ford, if i didnt buy it on facebook marketplace i would think it was new, HOWEVER, it wont power on. theres a couple different reason why it may not power on. the previous owner of the truck had an aftermarket radio in it, i used that for a while and it worked fine but finally took a crap so i decided to go back to stock (really i just wanted a stock radio with a tape player so i could use one of those tapes with an aux jack on it.) when i went to take the kenwood stereo out i discovered that instead of doing the logical thing and buying an aftermarket wiring harness to plug into the factory plug the jackass chopped off all the wires an inch from the plug making swapping out the radio pretty impossible, at least through any convenient means. barely enough wire on the plug to splice back to the rest of the wires. finally i decided to chop off the rest of the plug and solder it to wires from the kenwood wires since i had no intentions of reusing it. i left enough wire at the plug that i could make sure i matched the colors splicing it back together. i spent all night soldering which was a pain in the *** because i have tremors and shake like i have early onset parkinson's.

I get it all wired up and nothing, no power, wont respond at all. finally it dawned on me to check the fuses, 1 was broken so i swapped it out for one of the fuses that wasnt being used. that didnt do anything. now im wondering if a newer factory radio will work in an older truck. i can't imagine why it wouldnt work but im running out of ideas. im about to look up the wiring diagram for a 2006 and see if its different from mine.

sorry if theres alot of irrelevant information in this post, it served to allow me to vent as well as ask the questions i need answers to. if anybody could shed some light on what i should do or what im doing wrong i would be eternally grateful.

my theories are:
i got ripped off on buying a radio off of facebook (which i mostly doubt considering how good of condition this thing is in)
the wiring is so butchered im SOL which would really suck because that would make putting ANY radio in a nightmare
i cant put a newer model radio in an older truck.

I usually don't see factory radios go for that cheap unless they're broken.

You're going to have to test the power wire from your harness to make sure you're getting a signal. If so, the radio should at least light up.

i got it fixed. the 06 ranger uses different amp fuses than the 02, so i just had to swap out the fuses and it works fine.
