new stereo system

im getting all new speakers throughout, but i was looking and it says my 99 ranger xlt supercab has 6x8 speakers front and back. is that right? cuz right now im pretty sure i have aftermarket 6x9 in the back.. so are they just crammed in and they are suppossed to be 6x8?

but im getting a -
Power Acoustik ****-12 Car Audio Competition SPL 12 Inch Sub Woofer -
Boss Audio BLX-69 Car Audio 6x9" 3 Way Speakers 600W (if my truck has 6x9) -
Power Acoustik NX-10 Car Audio Universal Mount 2 Inch Horn Tweeter Pair Set -
Power Acoustik PC.5C Car Audio 5 Farad Digital Display Cap Capacitor Accessory -
Audiobahn A12001DT 2400W Max, Class D Monoblock Amplifier -
optima yellow top battery -
200 amp alternator -
Vented Sub Box Enclosure Single 12" Subwoofer -

if my truck has 6x8 what are some good 6x8 speakers? somthing that has a big bang for my buck.. like the 6x9s above, each speaker can handle 600w.. i want a 6x8 that can compare. anyone know of any?

i have a few other questions too, the subwoofer is 1200w rms so the amp has to be 1200w rms also correct? and what gauge wire do you need to power a 2400w sub? and do i need the 200 amp alternator? or is the factory enough? or should i get a 140 or 160
amp alternator? lol sorry one more question i just thought of, i was looking at the capacitors but it doesnt say what they can handle, what is a farad? and what capacitor do you need to power the 2400 peak power subwoofer? oh one more question sorry, if your speakers are more than the stereo deck can pump out then how do you power them to their full potential?

so all that will cost about $1,380 (including tax) plus shipping and handling, not bad for all new speakers, tweeters, subwoofer and box, capacitor, amplifier, battery, alternator, and amp wiring kit..

yes, i have them and they are awesome! even the coaxial's have mini crossovers.

Just make sure you get the right ohm load.. mine are 2 ohm and will not work with the stock or aftermarket headunit (you have to amp them)

what kind of amp do you need to power the 6x8's? i dont really want to have 3 amps in my truck.. its just a lil ranger lol i have to get an amp for the sub, one for the 4 6x8's, and one for the tweeters since they run 125w rms a pop.. or can i get away with not using an amp? actually how do you hook up four 6x8s and two tweeters off a head unit that only has 4 speaker outputs? another question, what does a crossover do? i prolly seem stupid not knowing any of this lol

ive changed a few things now.. ima get a Power Acoustik PS1-2000D amplifier for $189.99
2 sets of Infinity Kappa 682.7cf for $199.98 total
Power Acoustik ****-12 for $149.99
Power Acoustik PC2.0F (CHROME COMPACT) for $44.99
Power Acoustik NX-10 - 2 Inch Titanium Horn Tweeter 250W for $80.00 total
Vented Sub Box Enclosure Single 12" Subwoofer for $64.95
Optima Yellow Top Battery for $164.00
FORD F TRUCK EXPLORER RANGER HIGH AMP ALTERNATOR 92-05 7750 for $199.00

i bought a Sony cdx-gt50w head unit awhile ago and i like it so far so see no need to buy another yet.
for the 6x8's do you think i should replace the wires going to them? and if i upgrade to a 200 amp alternator do i need to replace the wires coming off that?

what i would do, is swap out the tweets and the front coaxals and put the kappa components in there.

mmm not a bad idea, i not sure how loud the sub will be so i wanted to make sure i can hear the music while shaking the crap out of everything.. but the kappa's are good speakers so i may do that, its prolly cheaper too.. i wasnt paying attention when i chose that speaker box though, i need a 2.4 cu. ft. vented sub box, i cant seem to find one anywhere.. any ideas where to get one? i might have to make my own though, well ill jus have my brother make me one, he likes makin things.. yea i gotta fab up a few pieces anyways to get it to fit anyways so ill just make the whole thing, how do you figure out the vent part of the box? has anyone made a similar one i can cheat off of?

Damn, I'm not running that much power and the guys at Crutchfield said that I had to run 1/0 guage to the distrobution block and then from their I can run 4 gauge to the mono amp and 8g power wire to the mids and high. Also from what I've read on this forum and else where you can boost your alt to 130 without upgrading the wire after that you should run at least 4g to the battery and ground.

a new audio store came to town so im getting some different stuff, im still running the **** sub but im gunna put in titanium power 6x9s and amplifier to power everything.. im gunna look into the capcells, i havnt found anyone who sells them yet but i figure thats prolly the easiest cheapest way to do it, ill prolly still get a high amp battery though to go with it..

make sure the rms of the amp is above 500 w..

those amps that say 2000 watts usually only put out 250 to 300 watts rms which is whats important... the sub as well...

I have had power acoustik amps. the 800w 2 channel sub amp. brided was only 425 watts rms. the peak power is not nearly as important as the rms...

I have a 1800 watt fosgate amp in my truck, i ran 5 gauge power wire. dont run the 25 dollar walmart kit in there it wont run the power properly.

hope that helps..

i would go with the second setup you listed but ditch the tweeters because the coaxils have tweeters in them and those seperates you listed are ****ty, like someone set get a set of components 6 1/2" preferably. you dont need a cap for the power you will be running, you really dont need a cap for anything. the alt you dont need just a waste of money at this point because your amp wont draw enough power. i only instal 4 or 0/1 gauge wire now it gives me and the customer more flexability in the future when an upgrade is called for. i guess i am gonna have to do a write up some day about car audio because no one on here seems to know anything about car audio. pretty much you get what you pay for. so spend the money and get good stuff that will last and sound good.

the 12 is a little bit more powerful but is also bigger and the 10s in the box i have are already cramping my leg room a little. i would have even less room with the 12s but i think i am selling one of them to a friend of mine so i wont have to worry about room any more
