Need help for aux input on alpine head unit

The head unit i have is an alpine cda-9856. I don't really like the mp3 player navigation setup that it uses with the ipod-ready hookup. So i just wanted to hook it up for control completely through the Ipod.

I guess because of this system it uses to utilize an ipod it doesn't have a direct aux input. But i was hoping someone could help me figure out how i can. I already picked up an rca cable that goes from two into one, then reduces the plug size so you can plug up an aux cable..

here is a link to a diagram of my head unit..

I apologize that i don't know the correct terminology for this type of thing but hopefully i described it well enough for someone with more expertise than I to provide some assistance..
