Capacitor

i just bought a Capacitor for my truck i was going to put it in the guy at the store said if i put it in it can blow hes like let the pll at the store put it in it safer is that ture??? did you guys ever here of one blow up.if it blow i dont wont to put one in

Most electrolytic capactitors are polarized, so you need to observe the polarity when connecting them. One type of electrolytic, called tantalum can blow if connected backwards.

when my friend put one in, he used a dieod(sp) when "charging the capacitor. the once it was charged he hooked up the wires and thats was it..

THe first time you need to charge it slow with a light bulb or a diode.

Hook it up making sure to get the polarity right and you are good to go.

I have directly shorted out a fully charged cap and it didnt blow. You're safe. The easiest way to blow a cap is by exceeding its maximum voltage. Since car audio caps are usually 16 or 18v or more you dont have to worry about that either.

Same as above, just make sure to charge the capacitor before completely hooking it all up. I was always told, and have always used, a resistor to slowly charge it up first.
