MP3 Player hookup

Hey guys i have an 01 ranger XLT, i just bought a new zune mp3 player and im trying to hook it up. They have the cigg lighter plugs, the fm transistors and they are 85$ and they dont always sound clear. Is there anyway i can hookup a Aux plug to my stock radio? Thanks

Well

the 2007s have an aux input, a 1/8" jack down beside where the ashtray would be if everyone didn't hate smokers. Maybe find one of those radios?

Dont buy the FM transmitter. They are crap. I bought one (monster brand)for my Zune when it first came out and I hate it. As of right now the best thing you can do is get a new CD player with MP3 jack

I went to ford and bought the trip tunes from them. $100 installed. Sound is clear and have had no problems. They can mount it where ever you want (dont do the glove box it is just a hassle to get to) I have heard the FM transmitters are crap too.

i found this harness on ebay for the rangers it says 98-07, it plugs into the port on the back of the stock head unit into the spot for the external 6 disc changer. The wires run into a small box where you can run RCA wires into that run into your MP3 player, they are about 75$, seems like a good deal but im not sure how the music would play if there isnt an AUX button on the radio? does anyone have this?

My buddy bought something for his truck that went in-line between the antenna and the radio. (Forget where he bought it..) It needed to be powered (you could use the cig lighter wires) and it cut ALL the radio and piped the MP3 player in through that when you flicked the switch. WAY better than those broadcasting things. (They sucked when they first came out and they suck now. You'd think a little progress could've been made in the last 15+ years, but noooooo....)

Oh well, just my $0.02.

I got my zune a couple months ago and I bought this : http://cgi.ebay.com/CASE-CHARGER-SET...QQcmdZViewItem
I bought it for the case, but now I dont use the case and use the FM transmitter everyday. It sounds great!! The packaging is all in chinese, and that might be why it works so good. It comes with a a wall charger and a cigerette lighter along with a ciggerette plug for the FM transmitter.

Its a pretty good deal although the "leather case is bulky and stupid. I threw it away.

I have something similar for my iPod. But instead of RCA plugs it has the iPod connector. To switch to that audio you press the CD button twice. If you do that now yours will probably flash NO DJ then go back to CD cause mine used to do that. But with something hooked up (changer or aux unit) it will switch to that. I can't remember the brand that I got and it is all in behind my dash right now. The sound is great and with the iPod it keeps it charged as well. I did have to flip a jumper on the unit to up the volume but now works great.
