Broke another sub?
Ok, a week ago, I put my lightning audio 12" subs in after one of my Rockford P1's cone seperated. Today, I was going down the road, and all the sudden, one of the subs started making a loud noise when it hit. It sounded about like my P1 did when the cone seperated from the surrounding. THEN, later on, it quits for a couple minutes, then starts back again. I looked them over, and they look fine. Any body know whats going on? Im running out of subs. lol (actually, the lightning audio subs were my last ones). Btw, if you missed my last thread about the broken sub, none of my subs i've had hooked up were over powered at all.

did you pull the sub ? and look...? if not do try it ive seen this happen before...and if thats not the case your amp may be acting up...or the sub is just toast and needs replacement..
One of my amps was doing this..i sent it in and the AUDIO INPUTS were lose and needed replaceing never had the problem again.

Well, took the sub out, and it smelled like someone had been smoking, and I can't stand that. I've found out that it will start acting up pretty quick with a song like "walk it out" (the already messed up sub).
EDIT: here is a video of the sub making the noise.......you'll have to turn the volume up until you can hear it.

I put my good P1 sub in, so now i've got a p1 and lightning audio now. Now, if one of those mess up, well that just sucks! lol
While im on this topic, I thought that subs, when they hit, were suppost to hit outward.......mine look like they do the most action inward (It appears to anyways). I've got the + and - hooked up to each sub right.......I do have bass however, but just by looking at the subs, they look like they're going the wrong way.

Since I have a factory radio, and the amp signal is hooked up through the rear speakers, should I be using the bass control on the radio to adjust the bass for the subs? I have the bass on the radio about half way, and the gain on the amp about half way. In my old truck, I had a aftermarket radio, and had the amp hooked to the preamp outputs, and could turn the gain on the amp almost to its max, and no distortion, but I dont know about this factory radio..........how should I control the bass? turn the bass all the way down on the radio, and control it with the gain on the amp? or what?
