Need help getting started.

Hey guys this is my first post on this forum so, hello from NJ. A while back i scored a 95 extended cab ranger for $100. Its my first vehicle and ive been driving it for about two years now, keeping it mantained and replaced a lot of crap and cleaned up rust and paint. Anyhow, i blast music in this thing like crazy and have been since i got it. I figured it time for an upgrade.

I listen to rock\metal and i like a nice bottom end but this truck just doesnt seem to cut it and i think the speakers in the rear are dying. So where do i start? Whats good, and whats ****? I really know nothing about car audio or systems or any of that jazz haha. I realize more money equals better quality normaly when it comes to audio. Im willing to go used, just help me out before all the speakers blow.

start with head unit, then speakers, then sub.or if you want to keep the crappy stock speakers, get a head unit then a sub, then look into speakers. your call but definitely start with a good aftermarket head unit. Kenwood Excelon is my favorite, alpine is good too.

Agreed with the Kenwood Excelon, I got the KDC-X794 about a year ago and totally love it. Pioneer and Alpine are both good choices as well, I just love the way the X794 looks nice and sleek.
