Beware if you get navigation...
For those thinking of layin down a few bucks on a navigation unit, I would recommend a double-din design rather than fold out...I got a pioneer avic n2 which I love as a unit, but I didn't take into account that when I fold out the screen, it blocks the middle two air vents for the A/C! Kind of a pain when you wanna run the a/c, and you can't have the screen open, or you might damage the unit from the chilled air...just a little FYI...gonna sell the n2 on fleabay and upgrade to the new Z3 double din, but it's gonna cost an xtra 5 bills or so

It's close. From what I've heard you can fit one but it does involve some trimming. Some double-din units seem to have a larger sleeve and wider front bezel that lets the body fit better if you don't use the mounting sleeve.
But no, Ford's cutout is "proprietary" and not a double DIN size hole. That's why when you look at double din units they don't advertise them as fitting Fords.
Only a very few manufacturers make a Ford-specific fit unit -- most sell adapters for regular single din players.

they make the kits. look on ebay. a small amount of trimming is involved inside the radio bezel. theres a small 'lip that needs to be grinded down to square so the unit can fit through.
and my old flip out blocked my a/c vents. i ran it with the air on all the time and it never did anything to it.
here's a pic of the double din:

I have the Kenwood DDX6019 in dash 7" w/their KNA-G510 navigation system and I love it. Found a ATM for my bank closer to home buy using its search feature.
I looked into a flip up but didn't like the idea of having it flopping around while offroad. Didn't even think about it sitting in front of the air ducts. Had to do a little trimming at the bottom of the bezel and used a aftermarket install kit and it looks factory.
