HELP Tremor problem

Ok so you know I got a 2004 tremor head unit. It came in today and I installed it.

Turned it on put a cd in and it looked like it started to play said it was on the screen but no audio came out. Everything seemed to be working but no audio.
It has the two plugs and a tab for what I think is a ground. I'm not using the amp plug just the stock one.

Do I need to hook up a ground to the tab or what do you think the problem is. The stock cd player works I even checked it after and still worked.

I would think that it would be plug and play like the factory HU, maybe it is defective?

If it is the guy will refund me but I would rather figure it out so I don't have to send it back.

Now that I think about it, I think I recall there being issues with the Tremor headunit not playing unless it was actually hooked up through the amplifier. Maybe I'm wrong but someone more knowledgeable should chime in. I think ScottG had this headunit.

The Tremor H/U have no internal amp, they need to be hooked up to the factory amp or an external amp.

You need to snag the Tremor Amp.

I think he might need the actual Tremor amp, no an aftermarket 4 channel. The Tremor HU doesn't have RCA style outputs, but it does have a Ford only 20-pin (?) plug that runs to the factory amplifier normally.

You can splice into those with the RCAs...it can be done. We did it on FordGuy302s truck to install his amp.

Why do you need the amp other people on this site have the 2003 tremor head unit without the amp and it works fine. I did notice that when i turn the volume up almost all the way a little bit starts to come out and about the same cranked all the way. The guy i bought it from said i dont need to run am apm. He bench tested it with no amp and it worked fine. He is going to fix it.

The wiring harness for the Tremor's is different. Installing aftermarket head in my tremor was a nightmare because no one makes the harness. I also don't believe you can take a Tremor head and slap it in any ol Ranger and expect it to play. The tremor head outputs line level audio to amps (similar to RCA) not to speakers.

He should be able to use any amp he will just have to make his own wiring. When I installed my F900BT I had to create some custom wiring. I have a tremor wiring diagram I will find and post. But the wires running to the amps are basically RCA. When I first installed my stereo with harness it was outputing amplified audio from the head to the amplifiers thus making it really crappy sounding and really loud. Modifying the wires that run to the factory amps with RCA plugs on the end and plugging them into the RCA out on my head worked perfectly with excellent sound quality. Concept should work the same in this guys situation just the other way around.
