Sadly, it'll be a while before I can reinstall my goodies. Gotta finish some crown molding inthe house, then after some bills, I get to build another box... This time it'll be ported, but first I want to install sound insulation throughout the cab...

I think you were the only one with a reg cab. Now we all have black supercabs except for Gary. You ought to see if Tommy(Treff) wants it next time he's up here.

Skyjacker, you PM'ed me, but never responded... Still want the box? It's free and will hold a 12 inch sub behind a regular cab. You'll lose 2 clicks off the passenger seat (really depends on how far the sub sticks out) and maybe 1 on the driver side. Best of all it's free....



I'm gonna be redoing my stereo eventually, anybody ever run 1/0 guage wire into the cab? Where did you do it at? I will actually be running my ground back to the battery too, so I need two good access points.

 

yes i would love to have the box just have to find time to come up there and get it.....sorry i haven't responded internets been down...but yeah maybe we could meet some where this comeing week? and about the running the wire..i ran mine under the cab and came threw the back of the cab to the amp... thats how mine is ran right now....but why are u running the Ground back to the battery?

 

Well I want this install to be bullet proof, and die hard, even a little overkill. But after consulting this chart:

2 gauge could be sufficient.

I have two amplifiers, pulling about 1250 Watts (RMS) total. The distance will be around 15 feet, just not fully decided. I'm sure after I see the price I will decide, but I want a solution that is overbuilt for my application.

Anyway I got a ways to go. I want to dynamat the cab while I'm in there too, plus I need to get new RCA cables, and gotta build a new box. So I got plenty to do.

well i'm sort of in the same deal but just a little diffrent... My sub hasn't been working and all the wireings corect ebcuase the amp turns on... i'm looking for a amp and new RCA jacks as well.. but where are you located and are you willing to meet me some where or what....this weekend will probally be the time i can come get it maybe saturday...drop me a PM and i'll get back to you

 

also what kind of shape is the board in where you mount the sub?? and also how hard do you think it would be to bulid a Box for 2 10's to fit in a reg cab?

 

Are you really in Hillsboro? I'm almost an hour north of Dallas, in McKinney. Map quest tells me Hillsboro is 95 miles away! Are you sure you want this box that bad? You would need a 12 inch sub to fill the hole, but it's got places to mount two other amplifiers (about 16"x12"x2", and the other can be around 10x10x2")

I can drive a little bit, but got plenty of chorse to do (new house). I just don't know if it's worth 2 hours (each way) in the cab for you to drive to pick it up.

Not sure if I understand the question. It's a solid piece 3/4" MDF and pretty solid. With all the screws and internal supports you would need a sledgehammer to break it.

Building a box for 2 10"s would be fairly easy. I can e-mail you an amateur blueprint to build a box for one 10"(fills half of the back area), and you can just double the design to fit two subs. The trouble is finding a location for the amp. You would have to work with the sub openings a little so that you could have an amp sit in the middle, or if you can put your amps under the seats, you would be fine.

MTX is as good as they come. It's a solid amp. Delivers 950 watts RMS @ 2 ohms/14.4volts. Specs say is should do 800. So for a 200 dollar amplifier (new off ebay) it rocks! My 2nd MTX Subwoofer amplifier, BJV11 has my first one. It has run for hours underneath seats, behind the bench, wherever and has never cut off or went into protection.

So far I need the following:
1. Head unit cage/mounting sleeve (bought)
2. Ford wiring harness adapter.
3. Dash mounting kit
4. Lots of cable (15 feet of 2 gauge, about 20 feet of 4 gauge)
5. Three pairs of RCA cables
6. New subwoofer box.
7. Sound dampener for entire cab
8. Fuse and battery terminals.

Good lord... it'll be a while.
