I'm looking at getting some eDead for my single cab ranger and my buddies extended cab ranger. How much would we need total to do the entire cab?

And is there any other places that it should go?

I remember seeing it takes about 50sq ft for a single cab, i think?

 

yea thats plenty 25sq ft covered my doors floor n walls.

 

i would go for 75. cause you may wanna double it in some areas.depending on your reasons for deadening anyways.im gonna do 2 100 ft rolls in my truck but mine rattles real bad cause my stereo.but keep in mind edead is i think .45 mil thick and dynamat extreme is i beleive 67 mil thick so you have to use more

 

I think I did 120 sq. feet for my ext. cab and that did most areas in 2 layers. It may have been more than 120 sq. ft. though, I'm afraid it's been too long.

 

Wow. I didn't expect to have to use that much... hmm. Thats like almost 400$ total for both trucks.

 

Buy as much as you want because it's gonna fall off if ben Meslime doesn't rip you off first.

Or you can get a decent sound deadening product from a decent company.

I vote for Second Skin Audio. I just finished putting on the Damplifier Pro on on my floor, roof, doors, rear wall, and around the cubby holes on my extended cab 2 door. Then putting on some heavy duty Luxury Liner on the floor the back walls and the rear sides. Might do the inner door as well. I will get some pics up in my build thread later today.

Edit: I paid almost $500 for all my materials from second skin audio just because I'm really sound deadening the crap out of my truck and making it more enjoyable of a ride. I still want to get some of their spray on sound barrier to put on underneath my chassis to help deaden the noise of road and truck vibrations. I got their 1 shop bulk pack of Damplifier Pro 80sqft and 36sqft feet of Luxury Liner.

 

I have:

-3 layers of SS Damplifier on my back wall (Roughly 18sqft)
-2 Layers of SS Damplifier on all 4 door skins (roughly 24sqft)
-2 Layers of SS Damplifier/RAAMMatt on my front interior door skins (roughly 20sqft)
-1 Layer of overkill in my doors (roughly 10sqft)

My truck rides quieter at speeds below 55 than my buddy's G35 Saloon. Once I get my roof and floor deadened it will be quieter than the G35 ALL the time.

Second Skin is by far the best product I've used. It isn't messy, it takes minimal prep, and it sticks forever.

RaamMatt is still a good product but it's a bit more of a messy install IMO.

 

x2 Second Skin is so easy. Just clean the floor with accetone and get your roller out, cut and apply it's so easy! I hope to get my truck as quite as all those luxury cars!

I have 2 layers of SS damp pro on the floor, roof, walls and doors.
Covered by their spray on noise barrier.
Covered by their Lux liner pro.
Think I have well over $1K in my truck.

I used the bulk pak of Dynamat Xtreme and it did my doors and rear part of the cab. A few other places too. Worked great. I think that was close to 100sq ft.

 

Cameron. A GOOD quality sound barrier will run you about $3.50 to more than $10 PER SQ. FT. depending on what you use and how you apply it. PLUS shipping if you get something you can't buy locally. So a CONSERVATIVE estimate would be $3.50 X 60 sq. ft. (ext cab) = $225. You can get something like fat mat for under $100. I started with Dynamat and was so disappointed I scrapped it all out (a real PITA to do) and redid it with SS. Personally I don't think you're going to be happy with it. That's your call.

$120 gets you 62.4sqft of butyl dampening that, for our application, will likely hold up just as well as Second Skin or Dynamat Xtreme. However, the butyl isn't as rubberized so it sticks to your hands hardcore.



60sqft is enough to do 2 layers on your back wall, 2 layers on your door skins, and one layer on your floor and roof.

This would provide a noticeable improvement in exhaust drone, wind noise, and cabin reverberation.

 

I'll toss a vote in for second skin as well. ANT is a great guy and very helpful, and the product is awesome! That's what I used on my truck. I somehow forgot to say that in my first post.

 

have you guys ever heard of that lizard skin stuff i saw it awhile ago on Horse Power TV on spike and they put it on really thick and it protects the under side of your vehicle

 

Lizard Skin is another brush/roll/spray on sound barrier. I don't know anyone who used it, so I can't say how well it works.
I looked at their web site and it costs about $80-85 a gal. A gallon will cover 25 so. ft. You will need 2-3 gals. to do a Ranger.

Second Skin sells 2 products they call Spectrum ($55 per gal) and Spectrum Sludge ($60 per gal)
One gal of either will cover about 40 sq. ft. Two gal. will cover the inside of your Ranger.
The sludge can also be used as an undercoating.
