video safety bypass on H/U

I installed a Clarion VX409 H/U on my truck a while back, tried to bypass the park brake safety switch like some sites said, just by grounding the wire, that didn't work, and when I search online i mostly just find a module for $150 that'll do it.

I'm pretty sure i read on here before that you can do it by hooking the safety wire to a toggle switch, then a ground and turn it on after the vehicle has started, or even using a relay, and the delay between the car starting and the ground being activated on the deck is enough. anyone know if this actually works? or have any other methods of bypassing...
I'm going on a long drive soon and my passenger may need some entertainment while we drive...

all help is appreciated, thanks!

yea hook the safety wire to the switch and then a ground to it. when u flip the switch you can watch movies and when u flip it the other way it goes to a blue screen but u can still hear the audio.

the headunit wants to see that the vehicle is in park so they tell you to disengage then reengage after the unit is turned on... this grounds the wire you can put it on a toggle switch but you will have to flip it on and off everytime you want to watch a movie and in my opinion is really ghetto... just get a relay and have the relay ground the parking brake wire when the amp output wire (blue in most cases) sends the 12v feed out... everytime you turn on the deck it will delay the ground and do it automatically for you when you turn the radio off the relay opens and the ground is broken again really easy relays cost the same price as a switch and use less wire if you need help with the wiring let me kno

if you watch at the end he tells you exactly what color goes to what pin on the relay every aftermarked deck has the same color code so will work for you deck

So I tried the relay thing, didn't work...connected it the same way, watched it over and over, and made sure I got it all connected right. Still no go though...I grounded 86 & 87 to the radio ground wire, 85 to the amp wire, and 30 was the p-brake wire....

does the relay click when you turn on the head unit maybe its a faulty relay you will be able to tell when the relay clicks on its loud and you can feel it if your holding it

I have done the relay method and it works great with my avh-p3100dvd. I am not at home right now though so I can't remember what pins I hooked everything to on the relay.

I would make sure the relay is turning on when the head unit turns on as stated above.
