2006 Mazda B4000 - extended cab audio install project
As I picked my truck up in November it had 2 speakers in the front doors and only an AM/FM (no CD, no tape) headunit.
I had to fix that.
First, I had to strip the truck so I could dynamat every square inch of interior. Both the sheetmetal, and the panels were done.
Installed polk MM series speakers all around. 6.75" components up front, and coaxial 5x7 in the rear doors
Ran my wiring back and started designing the box.
had to fabricate over the back trim piece as the jack was removed
on a side project while I had the doors apart I went with aftermarket mirrors, painted them, painted the handles on the outside and the insert in the inner trim panel (liftgate handle too)
I went with a ported & tuned enclosure with a single polk dual voice 12 MM series sub. Box volume about 1.8 cubic foot, tuned to 33 hz.
Box to have a hidden chamber to store the jack, capacitor and crossovers
used the factory rear seat fastener locations and bolt holes to secure the box in the event of a crash. The box has enough momentum at 50mph to cut my entire body in half if it were to come loose in the event of an accident.
Installed the amp and box, and did some carpeting. Finished most of the edges too. I may do something further with the bottom opening where the sound comes out (this is downfiring obviously) but I haven't decided yet.

I only have a pioneer HU and speakers, nothing to fancy. It'd help insulate for winter no doubt and I don't have A/C. It's something I eventually want to do, just need my other creature comforts first.

Hey, you tried. It's all we can do. Lol. My wife was mad when I took out the stupid third seat belt on the 60/40 bench when I reupholstered them. Not sure why. I wouldn't have anyone right there anyways since I have stick.
