The big problem with consumer electronics is that sometimes there are proprietary part numbers and schematics that require the stuff to go back to the manufacturer. I had found that in my past experiences. (BOSE) However, you may also find that the whole display mask is readibly available and with the removal of a few screws voila, an easy fix.
