Galaxy S3 compatible with an Alpine CDE-9870?
Hi guys,
I've got an Alpine CDE-9870 head unit in my Ranger. It does everything I need it to, that is until I got a Samsung Galaxy S3.
Is there a way to make the S3 play on the head unit? I'm kinda thinking not...
So failing that, I'm looking at a new head unit.
-What I would like is something compatible with both my Ipod (2G nano
) and my S3. The Ipod keeps some music on board at all times, but my S3 holds all my music.
-I don't care if it can play CDs, but it might be nice to play the occasional DVD, though realistically it never will.
-I don't care if it has full compatibility with Android, I won't look at my calendar via the head unit. I just want access to the media on it.
-Being able to charge the phone is a must, but I'm pretty sure that anything I can plug into via USB will charge it. The option is using blue tooth and an external charger.
-2 din would be nice, as would a rear view camera option.
-Reasonable price! I won't spend $800 on a high-end unit. I'd be okay with the $300~ range.
-A resistive touch screen would be preferred over a capacitive, as half the year I wear gloves while driving.
I don't have any other upgraded/aftermarket stereo components in my truck at this time.
Any help is appreciated.
