Cheap nice speakers

ok i was messing around on the net again and ran across these. Im in a bad modding mood. The Pioneer TS-A6880R 6x8 4-way

Could I use the stock HU unit or is that a bad idea, one day I really do plan to get an alpine HU. I want to replace the front speakers first then the back.

3/8" PET silver film dome supertweeter
5/8" PET silver film dome tweeter
1-5/8" balanced dome PPC (Pearl PolyCarbon) midrange
Aramid fiber reinforced IMPP woofer with durable rubber surround
frequency response 30-30,000 Hz
recommended power range 2-50 watts RMS
peak power handling 240 watts
sensitivity 91 dB
top-mount depth 2-1/2"

Thoughts?

The stock HU doesn't put out much power, but it will still sound better than the factory speakers. I changed mine out and kept the stock HU and it definitely does sound better.

I ran the 6870R's (3 way) with my stock Mach MP3 for a while, and it wasn't too bad. It depends on which headunit you have. The CD6 has a pretty good amp (4 X 20), while the MP3 single runs at 4 X 15. The stock non mp3 single CD is weak at 4 X 6, and wouldn't do so good with 4 way speakers.

If you use them with the stock HU, every time the bass hits, it will make the rest of the music quiet, so it will go in and out and sound like poop.

Buy a pair of polk 5" coaxials with included crossovers. They're like 100 bucks, but they will sound better and are more likely to be really efficient.
