Help build a Subwoofer box

I want to build a subwoofer box for my truck; my first. Could some one give me a checklist of things I need to consider when determining the size of enclosure, type of wood, ported or not, etc?

Your subwoofer should come with specs regarding how much airspace it needs to operate correctly in both ported and sealed applications.

I prefer 3/4" MDF because it's a good price, easy to work with, and very very stiff.

Sealed enclosures generally will give you tight, punchy bass. Good for rock, country, etc.

Ported enclosures will generally give you big boomy bass... better for stuff like rap and hip hop.

try searching the websites of car audio companies like kicker, rockford, soundstream, and others, they have alot of information and some have plans for boxes they recommend. also and have some information, and you can also go through the links on those websites to other forums

gearhead hit the nail on the head, ported enclosures are good for rap, sealed can be considered the "all-around" enclosure and can sound good with any kind of music
