Help with cb install

Icon4 Help with cb install

i bought a cb the other day and my friend helped me install it but he conected the power wires and negative wire directly to the radio.it works but i has a constent buzzing noise while the truck is running. any ideas what it might be???

It's called Radio Frequency Interference or RFI. I had the same problem with mine when I put it in and above my transmission tunnel. I have since moved it to above my radio and have fixed the problem. Where are you mounting yours at and what brand is your CB?

bad grounds will also cause the buzzing too

hey i also just installed a midland Cb and didnt have it grounded properly so everytime i shifted through the gears i heard my engine rev through the speakers. I regrounded it to the frame and now its silent.

i have my cb mounted right by under my ciggeret lighter and its above the transmissin. ill try to ground it differently and see what happens

not only could it be the ground but it could be the power coming in as well i would run it on a relay and power it directly from the battery u can still use the radio to power the relay so you dont drain your battery

i wired my cb to my fuse panel by the driver side door to the radio fuse works great

wire it to the cig lighter. works great also the buzzing is more than likey coming from the ground. do you have a fuse between the cb and power source?
