I got the unit out, took the front off, and gently coaxed the CD out. But the unit still thinks there is one in there. The locks are still engaged, and the spin platters are touching each other. I left it disconnected for 2 hours, but it still says "no CD" when I plug it back in. Same symtoms as before, but the CD is now out of the unit.
I guess the CD sensor went bad, or something is wrong with the load mechanism. What do you think a new/reman one would cost me? That will give me some idea on weather or not to replace it with an aftermarket unit. I could always FedEx it to you, or drive down sometime.
I'm still thinking Alpine, so keep the good ideas coming. Eclipse is good stuff, but they can run a bit pricey, and I'm not too familiar with them. I've always had good luck with Alpine. The Alpine units I had before never went bad.
