Installing a HU

I was thinking on getting a new HU from crutchfield.com

How hard is it to install a HU. On a scale from 1-10

point 5...less than 1... the hardest thing is to take a butt connector insert one wire and crimp...then insert another wire and crimp.

How did you get your stock radio out and how long did it take you to uninstall and install the new one?

Also if you have an iPOD capable HU. How do you set that up?

Stock radio comes out with a DIN tool that is included when you order an HU from Crutchfield. To uninstall and install a new one probably took me an hour.

To setup the ipod you would have to get the HU ipod add-on which probably connects to RCA ports in the back. You'll get an intruction packet too

Or you can simply get audio cables and plug it into your HU and select AUX as source.

Any problems you run into, Crutchfield has a toll-free tech support line and will walk you through it.

It gets even easier with a harness adapter kit. That contains a connector to go into the factory harness, and another one wired to it to plug into the new radio. With that, it's plug and play in terms of wiring and the only "work" is actually mounting it. Crutchfield usually has such kits and major audio chains sell them on the shelf and can order one if they don't stock it.
