New amp - with a little install how to

Well i just joined the site and i figured i better start off by sharing my most recent mod.

I picked up my new 4 way Clarion to mate with my Clarion 5x7s, and i put it in today. I havent wired it yet because im still waiting on my deck, but that ill come this week sometime. Its in a 96 standard cab B3000.

I had to think for a while about how i was going to mount it. I knew it was going behing the passenger seat, but i wasnt sure about drilling into anything. This might sound pretty basic, but i didnt know what to do at first, so i bet there are other people who wouldnt either.

First, i took off the pack panel by popping off the circular tabs that hold it all in place. They took some convincing but came eventually. This just leaves the physical back of your cab, which looks the same as the front of the bed. Once off, i laid it flat on the ground and marked where the mounting holes go with a sharpie, and poked through the panel with a nail. The panel consists of a layer of cardboard, insulation and outer fabric, so punching a hole isnt too hard as it is rather soft. I had to shove a screwdriver in and make the hole a bit bigger to let the bolts fit through. I used 4 bolts, each about an inch and a half long and put them through from the back towards the front, with a washer between the head and insulation. Once all 4 bolts were in i fit in amp into place and tightened it on with nuts and washers. Then just put the panel back on. I used the same circular tabs to hold the panel back on, even though they got a bit wrecked while taken out. Overall it took me about an hour (pee breaks included) and im super happy with how it came out. When i get my subs, the other amp is going in the same way behind the drives seat. Hope this will help someone!!

i would think that he is just going to amp the speakers in the stock location (not the stock speakers) and forgo the sub. but that is just a guess.

Thanks! That amp is just for my speakers (150w Clarion 5x7s). I am going to do that 60/40 -> 40/40 seat mod and make a custom box for the middle. There is only about 9 inches space between the seats so the box will fit snug in the space, but then flare out about an inch on each side just in front of my shifter to accomate a 10 inch sub, and hopefully the same thing as soon as theres room behind my seats. If it all works out, it will be a bumpin system for a reg cab!
