Plans for a sub box

Allright I have 2 12 audiobahn flame q's that I want to put in my truck. My plans for the sub box involve removing the jump seats and removing the plastic covering for the jack, but not removing the jack. I want to build the back of the box indented in so i can mount my amp behind the box, also will hinge a portion on the top to cover the indention that way i can still gain access to the jack. Also thinking about putting plexiglass windows on front of the box so they can be shown off.

Anyways my question is I'm planning on having the subs downfire, and then having the ports exit on the top of the box, does anyone know if that will sound good?

I am probably going to start this project over spring break, if anyones interested i'll post pics after the build.

Well its not exactly what i was planning, but i was thinking there was a lot more room back there than there really was. The amp is on the way and will be mounted in the middle. Subs are downfiring with ports up top. When I get some extra cash im going to stick a couple green neons under there. Theres just about 2.5 cubic feet for each sub. I can pick the box up myself when the subs are NOT in there, once there in it takes two people to move. I'm thinking its around 100-150 pounds. Anyways heres the new sub box. Tell me what ya think.

the port was kinda a new thing for me, i've always used pvc pipe. The specs for the sub said one 4" by 7.5" port per sub, so i just made the port opening the same as a 4" round tube. If it is a problem i can always take some of the carpet up and make the ports a little bigger. But yeah thats only like 12 sq inches per sub so i might have to do that. Should I or shouldn' t I make the ports bigger? Cause I still got some time before everything comes in.

I didnt loss any leg room, seat goes all the way back.

when you do ports do you just cut a hole however big you are supposed to for the port? or do you have to do like the box then have a little piece extend off the end and then have another wall and that be the port?

you can do it different ways, but you cant just cut a whole in it

it requires math to calculate the depth and area of it to achieve a certain
tuning frequency

Not to mention that if you just make the port area larger, the tuning will be about 5-10db peaked at a high frequency.
