Ipod static

I have my ipod and Sirius right next to eachother, that way I can easily swap the 3mm jack from one to the other. I have had this setup in both my previous vehicles with no problems.

In the ranger, the 3mm jack is ran from the Aux input on the front of the HU, behind the dash, under the cupholders, and out to the units. After a few minutes of listing to the Ipod, there was some NASTY interferance, some pretty ear shattering noises. With the jack plugged into the sirius, it is fine. I don't even know where to start here, any ideas?

Check your Aux cord and make sure you didn't pinch it anywhere............Plugging the Aux cord in the HU and straight to the Ipod shouldn't be giving you any interfarence.......Also, if your deck is Ipod ready.......Go get the cable that hooks up into the back of your deck and use it to run your Ipod.......Going that route, you can run it to your glove box and hide your Ipod and it sends all your songs straight to your deck..........The cable will run you about $30.......

The interference can be power related -- particularly a bad ground on the power cable to the iPod. What happens in that case is that the power ground is intermittently routed through the shield of the audio cable. That can cause some unbelievably loud noise and that sounds like what you could be experiencing.

The main difference here, devices themselves aside, is in the power cords and connections.

There is no interference in my cable. I took it out from the dash, and it looked fine. The ipod works in the morning and at night with a little static, but not at all in the afternoons.

Update: My Ipod is crap. It won't work at all when it is over 80 degrees outside. I think I am gonna go buy an ipod touch.
