My system setup

My enclosure is going into my 07 Ford Ranger extended cab.

The design, as Pete described it: "It's an off-axis (CRX-Style) T-Box; essentially a transmission line / bass reflex hybrid."

And the speaker to go in this enclosure? A 10" Fi SSD, dual 2.

Work on this enclosure will commence this weekend when I can go buy the wood and have the available time. Amp for now will continue to be my 2400w Legacy amp, we'll see how she performs with that.

Well guys, here it is.

Here is the initial build up, bottom, sides, back, and two of the wave guides.

Here is the box with all the sides, and guides assembled. There are some gaps in the corner peices where they butt up to the enclosure because I don't own a table saw and had to cut the wood at an angle with a hand held circular saw, not easy. Its all filled, glued and screwd though.

Here the box is in final assembly letting the glue dry by the fire.

And the ruff in of the FI SSD10. Its just for a quick test, I'll be carpeting or covering the box with truck bed liner (thanks for the idea Astaroth.)

And, my best attempt at being an Ostrich.

Ill be installing the box and sub in the truck tomarrow to test it out, and should have a sound update by tomarrow.

the longer port is one of the characteristics of a transmission line box.

in a true t-line box, it would actually be a bit longer, although i'm not sure how much longer because i don't know the specifics of the sub. usually the "port" is a quarter of the wave length of the Fs.. or basically, the F3 point. also, the size of the "port"... at the beginning, it should roughly be at least 125% of the Sd, then tapper down as you get towards the end, until you have a cross sectional area of the Sd itself. Finally, polyfil. it is almost a trial and error with the stuffing. Add if the line is too "boomy," reduce if its too lean. This basically increases the length of the line by slowing down the speed a bit, and (hopefully) damps out higher frequencies.

of course all of that above is basically nothing more than a bunch of guide lines for building a t-line box. there's no set way to build one properly each time... there's only theories out there so far...

his box should sound fine though.. like he mentioned, they say it's "essentially a transmission line / bass reflex hybrid." i've never used plans or bought a box from Team Toxic Bass myself, but i've heard good things about their info and their boxes, so it should sound good!!

keep us updated with pics!!!

EDIT: here's a link to a really good Transmission Line info site, just in case anyone was wanting any more info about them...

Rockysford, while the box looks big, its actually not, this is actually one of the lightest boxes ive ever built. On another note, if I were to do a 12, the box would be slightly bigger. The box is built specifically around the T/S parameters, so the box would change slightly for a 12, but not by much.

Strider pretty muched nailed the basics for the design and why the "port" is designed the way it is. The only difference being really that the port doesnt taper like a true T-line, hence the hybrid t-line/bass reflex box.

The boxe's tuning: "This design will provide fairly flat response down into the upper 20Hz region with a slight boost around 30Hz. "
