If you blew it, it wouldn't be doing anything.

So could that mean the sub is damaged then. Because it's not clean bass like my friends premier 3500.

If he blew it, it most definitely could still be pushing.

If it's distortion, you could be under powering it, an underpowered sub could sound just as bad as one that's on its way out, you could be clipping, if it's scratchy, chances are the vc is trash.

turn it off and push it up and down, scratchy = bad vc.

Generally the amp will go into protect if it's too bad.

What are you running sub/amp wise?

Sounds like a bad voice coil. what kind of amp are you pushing it with? and has it always been like this?

Does it "crackle" only at high volume? describe in detail what your box size, box type, amp settings, what ohm your wired at, how you have your terminals wired, details are key to understanding this. the more the merrier. are you sure its not more of a popping, pinging, bottoming out sound? how much do you have to turn it up to get this sound...

well what im thinking initially, is that it may be mechanically bottoming out. this could be due to an improper box, settings or both. can you give specifics on the box and settings or no?

and has it always been like this?
x2, has it always done this? we can't help you if you don't let us know everything you can give us..

Well, you're not pushing 900w continuous to that thing, I've melted those on under 400.

That Boss amp will never push 900 in it's life, and running it all the way up is a good way to put it in an early grave.

Check out these HiFonics HFi12D4s. $30 bucks a piece, and you can hear them destroying my camera when I had them. They're cheap and loud, not necessarily the cleanest but the absolute best under $50. Get four of them.
