L5 and L7 differnaces
just woundering what the differances are between the two. looking at them it only looks like small cosmedic differances. and the L7 takes a lil more rms. for the money is it worth getting L7's or L5's. cuz their cone area looks to be the exact same. so help me out here

I believe the L7's will handle about 100w more power than the L5's and cost about $100 more.
Have you checked out the SoloX subs? I've heard they're the granddaddy of all Kicker subs.... until they make something even badder.
Will your amp feed enough power to justify the extra cash for the L7's?

well, i designed a few boxes, a dual 10 ported box, and a sinlge 10 box which i'll be building really soon. i also have a ghetto volvenhag amp that pushes 400rms, so once i build the box, i can use it in for my surround sound sub until i get my license back, then i'll put it in the truck, and then when i get the money for a bigger amp and possibly newer subs, i'll put hte L5 back in the house.
i was just wondering will i hear any differance between the L5 and L7 at each ones max rms power.

From what I've read, the 10" L5's handle 450w RMS and 900w peak, the 10" L7 handles 600w RMS and 1200w peak. I was close, 150w more handling power.
If you throw 450w RMS on an L5 vs 600w RMS on an L7, you WILL notice a difference.
It won't be twice as loud, but it'll be loud enough to notice.
If you throw their PEAK power at them, you'll need a hearing aid in about 6 months.
Not to mention that you'll need to keep a 5 gallon bucket in your passenger seat... to pick up all the parts that get rattled off when you're driving down the road.

good question
I bouced back and forth between these two models when I was trying to decide which one to get. From what I have read from Kicker reps and competitors,
2006 L5 = 2005 L7
I can't get anymore specific on what has been upgraded internally, so you may have to take that with a grain of salt. I am well pleased with my 06 L5. The price difference between the L7 and the L5 was about $50 when I was shopping a month or so ago. I opted for the L5 because I have a 600w amplifier and decided that I'd rather push the L5 to it's fullest rather than underpower the L7 by 150wrms.
So, to answer your question... I guess I can't give any specifics on the differences between the L7 and the L5.
If anyone knows, it would be interesting to find out.
