I just acquired a 2010 ranger XL regular cab and it appears that in the back there are 2 speaker covers with nothing inside except just the opening for some speakers on the plastic trim, but once I took off the cover the plastic does not seem solid to be able to support some speakers especially if roads get rough and stuff.... anyone know for sure??? if so what size???

Another thing you gotta worry about is getting wires into that area too if it able to hold speakers of any kind. But for being able to hold speakers, look at the speakers in the front panels. That's what the back is going to have to be like if you want to put speakers there. Non-sufficient bracketing will rattle horribly especially on rough roads like you are saying.

i did this on my 08 mazda go to walmart they have some pioneer 6x8's they say made for ford rangers on the box ford only ran the wiring to under the drive set for the rear speakers so you will have to run it from the to the back where the speakers go the speakers mount to the grill then the grill screws back on to the panel you will also need another stereo to make sound come out of them aswell

here is some pics

BTW to me hours to track those wires to where they ended you might be able to go to the dealership and buy the missing wiring harness for the rear speakers
