I myself woudnt bother with those, you can go to crutchfield.com and get everything you need specifically for your truck. They are cheap and their products are the cats ***!

those don't look right. Also that last link to the harness isn't a link to a harness. I got the a kit, looks like the one below.

I don't think crutchfield lists anything for rangers either because they dont think they are compatible with double dins.

The harness just looks like this:

I thought the point of a double din was that you wouldn't need one of those plastic thingies to fill the space.

Unless the unit is specifically designed for your exact vehicle, there will always be spaces.

And I don't wanna buy this crap online and have to wait 2-4 damn weeks lol.

Crutchfield is very fast on shipping. The "crap" you may buy online there is certainly better than the rushed purchase of "Crap" at Walmart

in a ranger you won't have any extra spaces. the facotry unit is practically double din already. the right kit shouldn't have that pocket. it should look like the one i linked. and you won't be able to use the trim ring with that unit.

not sure where you're gonna walk into a store and find something. the harness you could get at best buy or walmart because it's generic to ford.

this is what you want from crutchfield

The outside ring doesn't do anything to actually hold the radio in. You won't be using the metal sleeve that probably came with the radio. It's the flat side pieces that do the holding, since the ranger doesn't officially accommodate a double din there isn't an official kit or any support for it. Although in reality it's one of the vehicles to install a double din into.

There you go. I looked at Canadian crutchfield but there site is terrible.

Basically those black plates attach to the side of the radio, then you slid the whole thing into the bezel. After cutting th top and bottom of course.
Don't listen to Dave, he's a girl. It's an easy install.

Mines ready trimmed. So it's even easier. Previous owner musts had one in there before I guess.
So what do I use to fill the gaps on the sides then, saw a install for this exact unit on another ranger forum, but he never said HIV exact kit he used. And he's hardly ever on there. AND I'm banned on there cause they're retards over there.

I didn't use anything. It looks ok. You can't really see where it's cut. When I put the trim ring on, the unit wouldn't open right. (I have the same one you got)

here is mine. I feel like the picture exaggerates the "gap" you can't see back in there or anything. I don't notice and nobody's ever said anything to me about it.

Hmm yeah I definitely like to look of the other one.

Also, did yours come with a diagram Showing which wire was which? Mine didn't... Gonna wire it up tomorrow of I can figure it out... No paper bowing which color is for what haha

And any 1998+ ford wiring James's adapter thing will work correct?

If you go through crutchfield and enter the exact year make and model, then shop under "what fits" You will be in great shape.

they'll send you the wiring adapter and double din (if you buy a single din unit) for free with your order.

They also include all the install guides and the wire color on some headunits matches the supplied harness (still read the color chart and or printed wire labels to be sure)

Seriously, buying stuff at walmart is not a solution, just order from crutchfield, the shipping is quick, and saves you the 2-3 days you would spend driving around trying to find the rest of the crap you didn't know you needed when you started the install.

I just got a nice bluetooth/pandora/xm unit from them, and even the stock radio removal tools, wiring harness, adapter, ETC were free with my purchase. (I also got a pair of rear speakers for the truck too.)
