My Custom X-cab 10" Sub Enclosures

Hi all, thought somebody might be interested in a home built sub system for an extended cab Ranger, mine is a Mazda, but the interior is the same.

I built these this summer. They are set up for 2 10" MTX Thunder 8000's. The speaker specs called for a sealed enclosure of .66 cu feet, so that is how I made these. They are down firing with 1" of internal clearance between the back of the magnet and the inside of the box. The subs were not recessed and I used 3/4'' MDF.

These enclosures are designed to set in without removing jump seats (see pics). I also designed them to allow nearly full seat movement, but reclining is definitely reduced. I don't have a pic of the final setup but my amp (MTX 400w) is mounted upside down on a board which sits between the boxes. I can reach all the dials from the drives seat even while driving. All the wiring was run under the carpet so it's not visible. All in all I love how it sounds, nice tight bass but because of the position of the subs it seems to stay in the cab. The major advantage is that I can pile my stuff on them with no worries. I run it with a fairly cheap Panasonic head unit (50x4) which limits my tuning ability, but hey, most of my money went into the lift!

Let me know what you think and feel free to ask me any questions.

Very clean construction! I would recommend that next time you build a box, don't have the rear wall completely parallel to the mount of the sub. It's better to have those soundwaves bounce around the box, not just reflect right back to the souce.
