Box Ideas??

Ok so I either want to build a box or i want to buy a box that will fit under the jump seats in the back. Does anyone know where I can find measurements for a box like that or where I can buy a box like that? Here is a picture of what i am looking to do, doesnt need to be angled like that it can be flat and I woul actually prefer flat. Let me know what you think. It is going to be one sub per side. I am going with 12's

i thought about this, you have to use a shallow mount sub. i have a 10" pioneer and it's too tall to be used. there is only about 8-10" under there. i would throw it in there but it's too tall and i'm all about keeping in hidden.

the subs I am looking at say they are a 6" mounting depth so I would imagine if I have 8 inches under the seat then I should be able to get a box with a sub under there correct?

What the picture looks like is a single 12 box from best buy or some place, which if that works I would just use that

i dunno for sure. from what i was told, there has to be some clearance between the rear of the sub and the box/enclosure. your 6" sub is shorter then my 8-10" one. give it a shot. take measurements and build a box.

I think I might if I cant find one pre made I like. The subs are rated for .8 to 1.35 cubic foot box and I found a website that lets you punch in measurments and it tells you what the volume of the box is.

if you have a 6" mounting depth, and you use 3/4 MDF then you are already at 7.5" with the magnet sitting on the bottom of the box. so figure 8" tall at the absolute minimum with no clearance on the magnet. Also you want some space between the seat and the point of max excursion.

That box in the OP looks like a regular box that was just laid down on its back. Hence the angle. Those are the only ones I've ever seen like that.

Maybe build something that faces the sub down toward the floor and then make it strong enough to have people step on it if need be.

Thats why i had a Rockford, You can face it either up or down, its designed to be the same either way. mine just looked like a box sitting in the back of my truck.

I would advise against using shallow mount woofers they don't last very long and don't sound near as good as standard depth woofers. One option would be getting some of the DC audio lvl 2 8's or even the T3 Audio T400 8's. They both have the potential to get loud and they will easily fit under those jump seats.
As far as box design goes you can shoot me a PM of the dimensions your working with and such and i can make you some box plans. I to this day haven't heard a "prefab" box that sounds good. You'll be a lot more happy if you build the boxes yourself.
